The WCM Local Liaison Group (LLG) was established in September 2015 and its membership is made up from a cross section of the local community. These include representatives from WCM’s senior management team, relevant local authority officials including councillors or ward members, representatives from the local community including residents and representatives from environmental backgrounds.
The objective of the Group is to encourage discussion between interested parties of issues relating to the construction and operation of Woodhouse Colliery in Whitehaven. Members of the group are able to make suggestions, raise questions and pass on feedback or comments from the wider community to the WCM team. As such, the members act as public representatives on the group and so should have a network of connections within the community and be happy to be identified as a member and approached by their direct community.
Members are asked to commit to attending the bi-monthly meetings as regularly as possible which are held at our Haig office in Solway Road. The Chairman of the group for 2020 will be Mr Simon Zanker, Operations Director of WCM.
This group is not aimed at the local supply chain who wish to become potential suppliers to WCM in the future as this would be seen as a conflict of interest. Interested suppliers should register to join the WCM supply chain database and attend the next supply chain event later in the spring. Dates for this will be announced on the website and social media platforms in due course.
The next Local Liaison Group meeting for members will be held at our Haig office on Tuesday 14th January 2020.
