With phase 1 completed, we are delighted to announce that phase 2 drilling was successfully started near Rottington this week.
With the confirmation that there is good potential for extracting high quality Metallurgical coal from our planned mine near Whitehaven, we have now started our Phase 2 work programme.
Phase 2 includes the intention of drilling three temporary off-shore boreholes to enable us to extract samples from beneath the sea bed, and a temporary on-shore borehole, which will be sited on the headland, to the West of Rottington. These will further define the extent of the coal seams and financial viability of the proposed operation, and allow us to investigate specific geological features. As with our previous works, phase 2 will be conducted with minimal disruption and an absolute focus on returning each site to its former state upon completion.
We look forward to sharing our progression; updates will be regularly posted.
