The West Cumbria Mining team continues to make good progress with the preparatory work required for construction readiness, following on from the completion of an extensive project design and financial review undertaken at the start of 2020.
This comprehensive review resulted in the requirement to update Cumbria County Council in relation to modifications to the coal processing facilities to enhance the recoverable metallurgical coal via a series of equipment changes within the coal process itself. This review also resulted in an optimised funding structure to reduce the initial capital funding required to deliver the mine into production, further improving the project economics.
As part of this construction readiness process, WCM is now in a position to be able to confirm that we have recently appointed a series “preferred suppliers”. These suppliers have been selected and appointed following extensive supply chain engagement, review and assessment and they provide both specialist and critical requirements for the project.
The key suppliers schedule will be enhanced and developed as the project readiness plan proceeds over the coming months.
The first seven key suppliers are:
1. AmpControl
2. Freightliner
3. Javelin Commodities
4. Parnaby Cyclones
5. Herrenknecht
6. Redcar Bulk Terminal
7. Sandvik
