Local Liaison Group

In 2015, WCM established a working group of community members, known as a Local Liaison Group (LLG) to assist the business with developing the plans for Woodhouse Colliery.

Representatives from WCM’s senior management team meet with relevant local authority officials including councillors or ward members, representatives from the local community including residents and representatives from environmental backgrounds meet on a bi-monthly basis.

The objective of the LLG is to encourage discussion between interested parties of issues relating to the construction and operation of Woodhouse Colliery in Whitehaven. Members of the LLG can make suggestions, raise questions and pass on feedback or comments from the wider community to the WCM team. The members act as public representatives on the group and so should have a network of connections within the community and be happy to be identified as a member and approached by their direct community.

Members are asked to commit to attending the meetings as regularly as possible which are held at our Haig office in Solway Road. The Chairman of the LLG for 2020 will be Mr Simon Zanker, Operations Director of WCM.

The date of the next meeting for members of the Local Liaison Group is Tuesday 17th March 2020.

Please note this meeting has been postponed in line with current company policy around the Coronavirus and will be rearranged at the earliest possible opportunity.
