We anticipate that site investigation works will commence in Spring 2020, with coal production commencing around 18-months from the start of construction.

Planning Decision ratified: 31st October 2019 (unanimous)
Planning Decision ratified 2nd October 2020
Planning Inquiry commenced 7th September 2021 – decision expected on or before 7th July 2022
Stage Six
Section 106 Sign Off – finalised
Stage Seven
Final Formal Planning Award – awaiting recommendation from Secretary of State

What does the immediate future hold?

Subject to gaining formal planning approval, our next priorities will include:

  • continuing to work with CCC to discharge planning conditions, which will enable the project to progress to the pre-construction and construction phases
  • planning for our next series of update events.
  • Issuing of regular newsletters to keep all interested parties – local people, community groups, council members, press etc – informed of progress
  • developing and finalising our recruitment needs with a plan to launch our recruitment campaign
  • developing and finalising our supply chain needs, with the launch of our pre-qualification process
  • launch of new ‘register for employment’ programme for those interested in working at Woodhouse Colliery
  • ongoing engagement with UK and European steel making customers
  • development of the WCM Sustainability fund
