Public Open Days, October 2016

West Cumbria Mining (WCM) hosted two public open days in our offices at Haig Museum on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th October.

Local employment already being supported

West Cumbria Mining’s (WCM) Cumbrian Metallurgical Coal Project recently progressed onto its planning and design phases, as well as further on site exploration works and we are delighted that we have been able to help a number of local people to gain some work experience, and be involved in the project from the early stages.

Agreement Reached on Haig Colliery Interim Solution

Andrew Little and Kerry Pearson of Rowlands Restructuring and Insolvency, joint liquidators of Haig Pit Mining Museum, are pleased to confirm that an agreement has been reached to provide a short term solution to securing the former Haig Colliery site.

West Cumbria Mining – supporting the Whitehaven Miners Memorial Fund

Helen Davies, West Cumbria Mining’s  Communications Manager, pictured presenting a cheque for £2500 to Gerald McGlennon at Haig Pit in support of the Whitehaven Miners Memorial Fund, who are fundraising to relocate the Haig Pit Memorial to a new location within the grounds of the museum.
